Luna Moth Blessing

As I was out this morning looking at my garden and pulling a few weeds, I found this Luna Moth on the side of a tree...

Oh! Isn't she gorgeous? I hadn't seen one in many years and consider it to be a blessing. The Luna Moth represents intuition, hightened awareness and knowledge of the otherworld. Some think they embody the soul of a loved one. I'll be interested to see how this pans out over the next few days.

wow, indeed that is absolutely breath taking. What a beautiful color and shape. I love visiting NC. This is just another reason I would like to live there.
BTW - finally got to post the One Lovely Blog award. Thanks again.

I have seen a live luna moth once. I liked this photo so much, I had a tattoo of it done on my foot. Lovely, thank you. I also like the meaning behind it.

I love your moth picture and used it in a story on my blog about my deceased grandfather. I included a link to your site but I want to honor copyright so if you do not want it posted on my page, please let me know. Thanks!

Lunas are a favorite of mine; they have a lot of meaning for me. I once came home from work and found one on my storm door, at least 5 or 6 inches across. I just stood there staring, and then went in through another door. At some point it flew away of course but what a privilege to have one on my home. Beautiful beautiful photo!

I have never seen a moth like this in my life, sadly the first luna moth i do see is on the sidewalk in front of my job, it appears a bird attacked it. I'd like to think no one would harm something so pretty. I didn't leave it out there to be trampled. I took it home with me and sat it in front of the window hoping it might pass with the breeze and it did.

This is a beautiful moth, i have a photo of one also..i seen it as i was coming in my driveway sitting on my white garage door. It stunned me. I have never seen one like it in my life! The detail was just amazing to look at it. I took at least 10 pics from every angle. I just couldn't believe it! To see that they aren't always around is amazing. I come from a little town in Delaware and this was just something beautiful to see!

jane from Ct: I had one of these lovely visitors about 8 years ago. "He" lived on the side of my house for a few days and then drifted on into the world. You are all so right--It is a gift to have one around, especially for a few days.

I live in Waverly, TN, and I have seen one of these before, actually scared me when it fluttered around my home office window, until I learned what it was. It was so big. But I am currrently watching one flutter around my home office window right now. This is the second in two years that I have seen. They are beautiful.

Hi,

I live in Washington DC on a very busy north/south thoroughfare. I was just today walking my dog and found on the sidewalk a luna moth without its beautiful tail and clearly in the throes of death. It was still quite beautiful and I couldn't leave it to die in such a place. I picked it up and brought it into the house and placed it on my altar along with the few other beautiful winged friends that have blessed of the course of this summer. A Blessing Indeed!

Sorry to be such a geek, but it was a male moth and you can tell by the antennae. I think the males are better than the females because of that. I saw one a few years back and yes, they do take you breath away.

Hi, found your website looking for symbology of luna moths after a dream I had last night. They appeared in a cloud, landing on my daughters dream garden, and then my father (who's been deceased for 30 years) said, Ruth, look who's here!

A man appeared, about 70, and I blurted, "Sgt Yurik!" threw my arms around him, and burst into tears. I have no idea who this man was, but he came with the beautiful, beautiful moths. PS I live in the western US and have never actually seen a Luna Moth.

But thanks for your pic and comments, very enlightening for me.

I have been trying to see what it meant but a luna moth which at first i thought was a butterfly came in my house and stayed on my door by the bathroom for about two days.it came on wednesday morning and finally started flying again on friday morning.i started to think of it as another pet,,cuz i would look up and thier it was just still by the door.what is the meaning of it staying for two days and then it goes away.i had to catch it so it can leave the house in peace when it was flying everywhere .i had it in my hands and then let it go outside.it was so cute.i liked it.i heard it mean spiritual transformation.what do you think the luna moth staying by my door in my house meant?

I had one visit me early this morning at 4:30 am when the dogs would not wait till I woke naturally. We have just moved into a new home a few days ago and I am still trying to figure out where we are and there he was sitting above my head under the deck. I ran and took a picture since I adore them. I have one tattooed to my left shoulder.

I saw 2 of these beautiful moths the other day on my deck furniture. Later found out it was called a Luna Moth. In all my 76 years, have never seen such a beautiful creature.

I have now seen 4 Luna Moths where I work in Alabama. They are absolutely beautiful. I have one sitting on my truck right now. Makes me not want to drive home from work in a little bit.

I just saw my first luna moth ever! It was so beautiful. I believe he brought greetings from my father, who left us 6 years ago this coming Sunday. I would love to have a luna moth necklace if I could ever find one!

7 years ago today my father passed we were as close as you could imagine. When I said my goodbyes I asked him to show me a sign that he was still around me when ever possible. Every year on this day, my birthday, or my two young daughter's birthdays I am never disappointed. While watching TV with my daughters in bed a Luna Moth landed on the window and has been here for several hours. I had no idea what it was and was shocked by the size and beauty. After researching it I have found so much peace on a somber day and with certainly love to believe it was a sign I had asked of my father!!
